Week 2 Day 4: The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge


Today is the day we move out of the apartment. I took a day off from work because we have to load all of our things into the car. I didn't go to Crossfit MNL today, so my workout was lifting heavy things and going up and down the apartment. Our room is on the 4th floor :) so I had a pretty good workout anyway.

Also to compensate for the lack of intensity on my workout today, I didn't eat much. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to foresee that there's still a lot of things to take care of with regards to moving out of the apartment, so I took an emergency leave and completely forgot that I have food waiting for me in the office. Instead, I gave today's meals to my office mate who also started her journey to getting fit. :)

Lunch:
Chicken Teriyaki Bento (Rai Rai Ken)

Dinner:
Champorado

Starting tomorrow, I will be commuting from Cavite to Makati for work and it's a long ride so I have to make extra effort to attend the Crossfit Boot Camp sessions. I might try going for the night class or the weekend.

Week 2 Day 3: The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge

No workout today. :( My boyfriend is on leave today to do errands in preparation of our moving out tomorrow. And I want to go home as soon as possible to help with everything. When I took on this summer challenge, I figured this week would be a problematic one due to the moving out of Makati. But I'll be sure to find time to workout.

Lunch:
Pasta Bolognese

I loved the pasta so much! It's the first time I didn't get tired of the pasta sauce taste. I really like pasta but almost all the time I couldn't finish a whole serving because I eventually get tired of the taste. But this one I just couldn't get enough. If only I wasn't feeling full and on a diet, I would appreciate another serving. :D

Snack:
Egg Salad Tea Sandwich

Took the The Sexy Chef advice today and saved the sandwich for snack. :)

Dinner:
Fish Fillet w/ Black Bean sauce, minced vegetables, brown rice
Egg Drop Soup

The dinner is okay, no complaints but not my favorite either. Didn't finish the rice as usual but I finished the soup :)

Week 2 Day 2: The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge

This morning, I kind of dragged myself to get up. I awoke 30 minutes prior to my alarm clock but I didn't get up just yet.

9:30 AM I got up and started preparing for another Crossfit Boot Camp session.

Breakfast:
1 small Smucker's Goober Strawberry sandwich
1 cup Milo

I arrived at the office a few minutes before 11 AM and worried that I might not make it to class in time, I took a taxi cab.

We have a different coach today - a girl, though she is more forgiving, her exercises are deadlier. :) There weren't a lot of squats today as supposed to the usual, but there were a lot of burpees and running! Then I consider this a cardio day! Burn baby, burn! :D

After the exercises, we were given some time to practice techniques that are commonly used in Crossfit. I kind of got used to jump rope today. Barely lifted my legs to my chest while hanging on the bar. Though I don't have any aching muscles today, I sure am tired from that workout!

Lunch:
Chicken Burrito
Garden Salad w/ Lemon Vinaigrette

I am not too happy with the lemon vinaigrette but I loved the chicken burrito! <3 Thank youuu for the generous helpings of cheese!

Week 2 Day 1: The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge

I survived Week 1 and now, welcome to Week 2!

Didn't have breakfast today because I woke up late.
But when I arrived at the office, my food is already waiting for me. :)

Lunch:
McDreamy Chicken Burger
Crab and Mango Salad with Oriental Dressing

I am loving every salad I get! I like the different dressings, the amount of vegetables and the overall taste. Now that's what you call a yummy salad! On the other hand, I am not so crazy about the chicken burger this time. The patty is a little too thick so I suggest only eating half of the burger and keep the other half for a later meal.

Dinner:
Pan-fried Bangus
Sauteed Sayote
Tinola Soup
Brown Rice

Now this is a great dinner! I love the bangus, its taste is not bland at all. I loved the sauteed sayote and tinola soup. :)

Unfortunately I didn't go to the gym today. I had to leave work for a few hours to start packing my things at the apartment. I am moving out this coming Thursday and being lazy, I only started packing up today. To compensate for not going to the gym, I didn't eat anything else aside from The Sexy Chef meals today.

Week 1 Day 5: The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge

Well not enough serious ass, but still. :D

Welcome to Week 1 Day 5 of The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge!

When I woke up this morning, I have a cramp on my butt from last night's workout. And as I have done a lot in the past whenever I start trying to be fit, I seriously considered not going to the gym because of this and that...

In the end, I did get up and prepared to go to my second CrossFit Boot Camp session. Hell yes! ^_^ I first went to the office because I leave my gym bag under my workstation. As soon as I arrived at the office, checked some stuff for work first, ate a banana then proceeded to change into my workout clothes and it's all black today. Reminded me of that saying I read a while back that implies wearing black while working out is like holding a funeral for your fats.

Breakfast:
1 large banana
1 cup Milo

Then started the 600+ meters of walking to CrossFit MNL. I guess that counts as additional warm-up. There are a lot of people today, about more than ten I think. As usual we did a lot of squats.

During the first exercise, I was paired with a girl named Mercy. She was friendly and she cheered me on when it was my turn to do the squats. :)

It didn't take long for my legs to start aching again but I did try my best to cover 4 out of 5 rounds of the last exercise. I did modify the workout a bit, I couldn't lift the plate while doing the squat any more so the coach allowed me to just do the squats without the plate.

One of the things I could barely do was a proper push-up. I was doing it like a worm, seriously. I have to practice doing that and I really have to train my arms harder.

Lunch:
Beef Steak Rice Bowl
Puree of Mongo Soup

Dinner:
Pesto Pasta
1 stick Mediterranean Chicken Skewers

The beef steak is tasty, but as usual I didn't finish the rice, yey! :) The Pesto Pasta was not so good, it was very oily. Well I guess it was my mistake as well that I used up all the pesto sauce. With parmesan cheese and the chicken skewers stirred in, I was able to finish it. :D

Someone at the office bought a lot of JCO donuts and I was very sad that I cannot eat a whole donut. My boyfriend gave me one small bite though. :D

Week 1 Day 4: The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge


Welcome to Week 1 Day 4 of The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge!

No breakfast today since I woke up late and I ate my lunch a little early. So the lunch from The Sexy Chef is my first meal of the day! If ever I get hungry before dinner, I'll just have some healthy snacks like banana and yogurt :)

Lunch:
Chicken Burger Fit Bowl
Chunky Tomato Soup

Yum, yum and yum! I wasn't able to finish the rice in the fit bowl but it was still satisfying! And I'm really loving every soup they deliver! :) Little by little, I'm feeling like I'm developing a craving for The Sexy Chef food - I just can't wait to eat each meal. :D

Tonight after work, I'll be visiting Fitness First again to exercise some more - hopefully with increased intensity this time as my muscle pains are subsiding now. I believe I'll be able to do a crossfit session tomorrow! :)

UPDATE: Alriiiight! I was able to squeeze in some workout earlier and I feel goooood! :D

Pre-Workout Snack:
1 large banana
90 mL Dutch Mill Strawberry Yoghurt drink

Dinner:
Cream Dory Fish Fillet Sandwich
Greek Salad with Pesto Vinaigrette

Salad? GOOD! Sandwich? Even better! I even loved this more than the McSteamy Burger last Monday. No strong taste from the dressing. The fish fillet is cooked just right. Perfect! <3

Wish me luck for my second CrossFit boot camp session tomorrow!

Week 1 Day 3: The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge

Unfortunately, I was not able to work out at all yesterday due to seriously aching muscles. But today, I think I can manage at least 30 minutes at Fitness First later after work. :)

Welcome to Week 1 Day 3 of The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge!

Breakfast:
1 PB&J sandwich (Smucker's Goober Strawberry)

Lunch:
Jap Chae w/ Chicken Yakitori

Lunch is so yum! I'm really beginning to like Jap Chae - this might be my favorite Korean food so far! Chicken Yakitori was tender and not bland. I love their combination.

I might be able to go back to Crossfit MNL either tomorrow or on Friday. I have to go there at least twice a week if I want to get results in 3 weeks! I can do this!!!

I was able to squeeze in at least 30 minutes of workout at Fitness First - mostly for abs. Looking forward to increasing the intensity next week when I finally get the hang of it and my whole body is not aching after a crossfit session. :D

Dinner:
Tuna French Kiss
Minestrone Soup

I really liked the taste of the tuna filling but the wrap is too thick for me so I had some leftover wraps :) Good change for me since I usually try to finish the whole thing, LOL. I also liked the minestrone soup. Now, that's a nice healthy dinner! I was able to eat that while watching my boyfriend eat Chickenjoy at Jollibee! :D

Week 1 Day 2: The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge

I woke up late today (12:45 PM) and my muscles are aching! No pain, no gain, I guess. I only had my breakfast in the office at around past 2 PM. By the way, I think I slept for almost 12 hours! I was really sleepy when I got home last night, I didn't have time to watch a movie or play a game with my boyfriend. :( I hope that for the next weeks I'll have more energy and stamina for exercise, work and play.

Welcome to Week 1 Day 2 of the Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge!
I didn't go to Crossfit MNL today because I plan to do it only every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. :) Tuesdays and Thursdays will consist of some self workout at Fitness First.

Breakfast:
1 large banana
90 mL Dutch Mill Strawberry

My food arrived at past 4:30 PM today together with the food for tomorrow. Starting today, The Sexy Chef will be doing deliveries the day before for the food the next day.

Lunch:
Korean Beef Rice Bowl
Vegetable Soup

The rice bowl is so-so, I didn't like the bland taste of the beef. :( I was struggling to finish it all off. On the other hand, the vegetable soup is such a delight! I had at heated for more than a minute and it tastes good warm. I took Alaxan for my muscle pains and Enervon for more energy hopefully.

Dinner:
Malunggay Pancit Bihon
Chicken Burger Slider

I'm not a fan of pancit bihon, but the taste is not so bad. I love the burger though, it tastes so good! Or maybe I really just like chicken burgers - I used to order them a lot at Burger Machine, LOL.

And that concludes the update for today! Good luck to me tomorrow morning, I hope I can still make it for the Crossfit Boot Camp session. My whole body is still aching! :(

Week 1 Day 1: The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge

For the past few weeks, I've been having second thoughts if I should join the Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge. The deadline is yesterday and at almost exactly 3 PM, I just went on with the purchase.

The Fit & Sexy Summer Challenge is a 3-week body makeover - intense boot camp-style workout sessions at Crossfit MNL + nutritional support provided by The Sexy Chef through a specially designed menu of healthy lunch & dinner meals packed with fat-fighting nutrients delivered Monday-Friday, right to your doorstep!

Today is the the first day and I woke up early at 9 AM to prepare for my very first crossfit boot camp session.

Breakfast:
1 small PB&J sandwich (Smucker's Goober Strawberry)
1 cup hot Milo

On the way to the gym, I stopped by Shopwise to buy some bananas and 90 mL Dutch Mill yoghurt drink which will be my breakfast after I run out of bread. This was my original choice for breakfast but forgot to buy them yesterday and the only place left open last night where I could buy proper food was the bakery near our apartment.

At 10:30 AM, I got out of Shopwise and proceeded to the gym. It was a short jeepney ride, then a few minutes walk and at 10:45 I arrived at Crossfit MNL Makati branch. They seemed unprepared in receiving customers from The Sexy Chef challenge but nevertheless, I was not inconvenienced and was able to join the 11:15 AM boot camp session.

There were just five of us - four girls and one guy, then coach Kirby. I was immediately recognized as a first-timer. I am very grateful that they went easy on me as I haven't been working out for a few months now - I am sooo out of shape and I just recovered from being sick for the past 2 weeks.

The session started with a 200-meter run outside of the gym then a few minutes warm-up. Then all hell breaks loose. Okay, I guess that was just for me. There were a lot of burpees, running, kettle bells - the horror, but a reasonable punishment for a lazy person like me who's been keeping out of shape for a while now. That's why when I saw the picture above from Women's Health PH, I thought it was very appropriate.

That went on for about 45 minutes. I was barely doing any burpees on the second exercise. I couldn't catch my breath and I had to drink water every minute because my mouth is getting dry with all the panting. Geez, I feel really old!

Thankfully, the last 15 minutes were just planks and my previous physical trainer has made me do a lot of those before. The only bad thing was the 100-meter run in between planks while my legs are already jelly-like.

The workout ended with some stretches and they applauded me for surviving my first crossfit boot camp session. Yey! :D

There was just one shower and fortunately, all the other girls didn't use it so I had it to myself. The walk from the gym to the office was a cherry on top - I walked really really slowly and my shoulders are hurting with my heavy bags over them. Oh God, kill me now.

I arrived in the office at 1 PM. Yes, I survived Day 1! I have really got to build up my endurance and stamina if I want to survive the next 3 weeks. It's almost 2:30 PM and my food for today has not arrived yet. Will update this post later then! :)

My food arrived at 3:30 PM which is fine because any time before that would have been too early. I sleep at 2 AM earliest and I wouldn't want to starve too much at night.

Lunch:
Pasta Pomodoro
2 pcs. Chicken Pesto Tea Sandwich

The lunch is soooooo good, and I am just the right kind of full. :) Healthy food never tasted this good! <3 Looking forward to dinner, though this one I have already tried before when I was just trying out The Sexy Chef and purchased the 5-day Health Bar package. Be back later after dinner! :)

Dinner:
McSteamy Burger
Garden Salad w/ Creamy Sesame Dressing

The burger tastes soooo good with cheese. Thank you for putting cheese in! But the patty is a little bit too big that your taste buds will get tired of its taste by the time you finish. The sesame dressing tastes great and I really enjoyed this salad - this coming from a salad-hater. The combination of the burger and the salad makes me happy. :)
